Seniors Scratch Matchplay Final 2018

The Final of the 2018 Scratch Knock out was played this week between David Robinson and Wayne Short.  Course conditions were still good and the weather fine, if a little breezy and chilly at times.  The pair got off to a steady start, halving the first two holes.  Wayne hit his tee shot at the third into water resulting in a loss off hole.  A nice birdy at the 5th saw David go 2 up and this was the position at the turn.

Wayne started the back nine with with a win but lost the 11th to again be 2 down.  A nice birdy from Wayne at the 13th again saw the deficit reduced to 1 hole and despite David having  chances to improve his lead and close the match at the 17th, a couple of three putts saw the match go to the 18th with Wayne needing a win to go on.  David secured a par which was good enough for a half and overall a win for the match at 1 up.

Congratulations to both players for a well fought mach played in good spirit.
