Captains Day 2015

This years Club Captains Charity is Cystic Fibrosis Trust and on Sunday 19th July we had the main charity event for the year Club Captains Day. This years Captain Clive Wright had chosen a format that has not been seen for a while which was best 3 scores from a team of 4 so it was always going to be hard to predict the winning score but the final results can be seen here

For the organisers the day started early as we arrived around 7.00am. There was a great atmosphere in the club as everybody registered for the day and we had a raffle for a number of items that included some nice wedges provided by Srixon and some wine donated by the clubs F&B team. We also had a draw for 3 months free membership kindly provided by the Slinfold Management and this was eventually won by a very excited David Gellibrand.

The Draw for tee offered an opportunity to raise some cash while auctioning the 1st and 10th tees (so people did not have to walk too far) and some fierce bidding saw us raise nearly £200.00 here. Clive managed to get himself the biggest rocket he could find to start the day and unlike in 2010 this went without a hitch and at 9:00 exactly everybody teed off. The good news was as it came to 9:00 the rain stopped and the sun had come out and it turned out to be a lovely day on Slinfold course.

After four and half hours (and a little longer for some) all the teams returned to the clubhouse, some looking weary and the ones with the better scores looking more buoyant. After a well earned drink the prize giving was preceded by and Auction for some items donated by a number of people and included a 9 hole playing lesson from our new pro David and a tour cart bag from Srixon. With the additional money raised from these items we managed to raise a magnificent £2500.00 on the day and this years total increased to nearly £4000.00.
