Power Plates

The gym at Slinfold Golf & Country Club is also home to the innovative Power Plate. This is a revolutionary piece of exercise equipment, praised by fitness queen Madonna herself.

A Power Plate blasts fat by using a vibrating platform large enough to accommodate a person positioned in a deep squat pose. More traditional exercises, such as squats and push-ups, can also be performed on the vibrating plate. The plate works by moving in three different directions, vibrating very quickly at between 25 to 50 times per second.

These tiny vibrations put the body out of its usual balance and to correct this the muscles unconsciously make very rapid reflex contractions. Therefore, the muscles are almost always contracted as they fight to keep the body position controlled. Because your muscles are working so hard, this makes training on a Power Plate machine extremely effective and decreases overall time spent on the machine. However, don't be fooled by the shortened time span; it's still tough work!

Every member of our Exercise Team has been trained to operate and assist with the Power Plate, and will be happy to offer to you a full demonstration of how the machine works. Furthermore, they can also include the machine in your personal fitness programme, so that it becomes a routine workout for you whenever you visit.
