Driving Range News

Slinfold Golf & Country Club is pleased to announce two exciting developments at our Driving Range

Range Automation

By way of providing an improved service and more efficient operation of the driving range, the Club are delighted to announce the introduction of a fully automated ball picking and cutting system.

The use of these robots will enable more efficient ball picking in the Winter months when the ground is wet.  Our existing range vehicle is very heavy which means that hand picking is frequently required at the wettest times.  The robots will dramatically reduce the amount of handpicking required.  The ground compaction associated with a heavy vehicle also has implications on the quality of the outfield whereas the robotic ball picker and cutter have far less impact due to their reduced weight.  In the growing season the continuous cutting associated with the robot strengthens the grass and will remove the need to close the driving range for mower cutting, which is currently carried out once a week on Thursday mornings.

New Range Balls

September has also seen the investment in brand new Srixon 2 piece range balls offering great feel and flight performance to enhance your practice experience here at Slinfold.

In order to successfully install the new equipment we must prepare the outfield accordingly and therefore the driving range will be closed on Monday 26th September until 1pm.  We do not envisage the need for any further closure during the installation process and the target date for the system to be fully operational is Monday 3rd October.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused as a result of the closure on Monday and thank you for your patience during the installation of this new system.
