New Academy Course Opens at the Club

Watched by a crowd of excited onlookers, and after much anticipation, the Par 3 short course at the Club had its official opening to members on 21st July 2016.

Named 'The Academy Course',  the first 5 holes of the new 9 hole golf course saw their first golfers teeing off in glorious summer weather fit for a wonderful day of golf.  The honour of the first official tee off went to Head Greenkeeper Dan Saunders who, along with his Greenkeeping team, have worked tirelessly towards opening this exciting new facility at the Club.     

The Academy Course has been specifically designed to offer golfers an alternative, and addition, to our existing mature 18 hole golf course, and to compliment use of the Driving Range to provide an all round golfing experience at the Club. The course, nestled sympathetically within the landscape at the entrance to the Club has two well established lakes and a beautiful vista to the surrounding Sussex countryside. The undulations in the course makes for a challenging and unusual environment that tests golfers with a handicap whilst giving the novice golfer an introduction to playing prior to venturing onto the 18 hole course.

We interviewed golfers as they exited the course to gain their initial feelings having experienced their first round of golf on the Academy Course:

The newly opened Academy Course will be available exclusively for Slinfold members for the initial two weeks, and will then be warmly open to visitors and guests from Monday 1st August 2016.  The Club wishes to welcome visitors to the Club with a special Opening Promotion to enable golfers, both beginners and seasoned players, the chance to experience the course for themselves.  Our introductory 'Double Round Experience' gives players the chance to play 10 holes of golf going around the course twice, giving a great opportunity to play the initial part of the course as a warm up, then once for real!  Please contact a member of Reception Staff for further details and to book your tee time.
